When I was younger I could see Through the façade in front of me As I grew older, thankfully I learned to live with fake realities And frailty. Sometimes the people I thought I knew Are patterns repeating over fantasy As we move forward through time and space All but a few are scarred by tragedy Catastrophe You know that I can't look you in your eyes You know that I believe you it's in your eyes In the end, it's all a game Digital characters we choose to play Back to the start, it's all the same Spawn a new life and try again Conspire again

about

A Life Away From Here is a song about the dichotomy of being true to yourself while trying to exist in a world full of fake, pomp and conspiracy. It equates our lives to only digital characters in a game of life while asking the question: who will make it through?

The Future According to Eve is a project by producer, songwriter and musician Michael Lobb. Formed in 1999, The Future According to Eve released their first album on streaming services, “Past Lives”, in 2021. The first of a new batch of music, A Life Away From Here, explores rock music in a more progressive form with meter changes, complex chord progressions, synth leads and tasty guitar solos. Featured as a bookend to the single, A Life Away From Here (Requiem) is a bare-bones piano and violin composition featuring frequent collaborator Joylin (Romania) and Brazilian pianist Neemias Teixeira.

While only a single, this is 15 minutes of meaningful rock you can’t miss.
